Richmond Friends School is a Preschool-8th grade independent Quaker school founded in 1971. The Richmond Friends School Board of Directors is pleased to announce Rebekah Dimick Eastman, PhD as the new Head of School beginning in June of this year. Rebekah (Becky) holds a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Brown University and a PhD in Educational Studies from Ball State. She attended Earlham College for her undergraduate work and taught high school biology and math in Wisconsin before moving back to Richmond. Most recently, Becky taught courses such as Foundations of Education and Reading for Diverse Learners as a faculty member of Ball State University after serving as Director of Graduate Programs in Education at Earlham College.

Becky is replacing current Head of School Steve Cleaver who is leaving in June to concentrate on his writing and yoga practice. Steve served the school for nearly a decade as School Coordinator and then Head of School. His dedication to our students was immense and felt deeply during his tenure. He will be missed!

Becky is a Quaker and currently lives in Richmond with her husband Eric. Their two sons, Alex and Ted, both attended Richmond Friends School.

The Head of School search committee was composed of two Richmond community members, an RFS parent, a RFS teacher, and a RFS board member. We welcome Becky with excitement for the future! 

We encourage parents and families to introduce themselves to Becky as she will be familiarizing herself with daily routines and RFS families as the school year comes to a close.
